Places to visit
We recommend visiting the following places in and around Swadlincote:
1. The Magic Attic
The Magic Attic is a fascinating Archive of Burton Mail newspapers, historical documents and over 20,000 photographs relating to Derbyshire, Staffordshire and Leicestershire, housed at Sharpe's Pottery Centre.
2. Sharpe's Pottery
Sharpe's is 19th century pottery, sensitively converted into a tranquil retreat for exploring local history and culture by day, enlivened by concerts in the kiln at night. Swadlincote Tourist Information Centre is also on site.
3. Conkers
CONKERS, the award winning attraction at The Heart of the National Forest, a unique mix of indoor and outdoor experiences to keep you and your family engaged for hours.
4. Swadlincote Library
Swadlincote's local history collection is housed in its own room on the left of the entrance.
Here you will find a good reference collection of books covering the whole county with particular emphasis on South Derbyshire, Burton-on-Trent and the villages of North West Leicestershire.
5. Swadlincote Ski Slope
Swadlincote Ski & Snowboard centre is located in the heart of England with major cities such as Birmingham and Nottingham only a 40 minute drive away. It is open throughout the year for recreational Skiing, Snowboarding and Blading with lessons available for every standard.
